Project 2

Kitchen with French Influences in Bethlehem. PA

This kitchen was the first remodel of the original kitchen in a home built in 1929. The home was constructed with French architectural features that the client wished to reflect in her kitchen design. The goal was to bring the kitchen into the 21st century with beautiful custom designed cabinetry, upgraded appliances, and amenities including a spice drawer and pull-out utensil trays. The client also desired a kitchen that reflected the original detailing, was low maintenance, and allowed for a sunny and brighter feeling.

Project budget: $100,000. Project timeline: 3 monthsProject challenge: The first consideration was given to including an exterior vented range hood that did not exist in the original kitchen. The nine foot ceiling allowed for a pair of beams to be constructed into which the vent pipe was fitted and extended to the exterior wall above a window.

Careful attention to detail can be seen where painted wood wainscoting meets the stone wall, and at the barn wood screening of the wine room humidifier vent.Project budget: $150,000. Project timeline: 4 monthsProject challenge: Mid-project hurricane Sandy hit the Northeast and damaged a significant portion of the exterior walk-out side of the basement as well as the roof of the home.
